SELF-EVALUATION
OF OUR ORAL PRESENTATION
Presentation
(10%):
-
Do
you use any resources? Yes. We have used a PowerPoint with an organized
information and complemented with some images. We also have shown a video even
though there aren’t nice videos on Internet. And finally, we have completed the
presentation whit a soundtrack which we have previously chosen.
-
Are
the resources focused on the topic? Yes. I think we have searched a lot of
information and we have put it in a correct way to make it more clearly.
-
Do
the resources support your oral explanation? Yes, because if you lose you
speech, just watching it, you are able to find yourself.
-
Is
the timing 5-10 minutes? Not at all. We were 3 people in the group and the
presentation have lasted 7 minutes 13 seconds which it means that we have speak
like 2 minutes and 40 seconds each other.
Body
language & eye contact (10%):
-
Are
you looking at your audience most of the time? Yes, I think we had been
studying our speech for hours so we were able to explain without a paper
helping. Well, without watching it.
-
Are
you reading occasionally from your notes? Not really, we just keep our paper on
our hands in order to stay calm.
-
Are
you doing any gestures/movement to hold the attention of your audience? We are
not going to say that we weren’t moving but we think that instead of moving to
hold the attention of the audience, we were moving because of nerves.
Structure
(10%):
-
Do
you organize your ideas in order of importance? Absolutely yes. I think that
the structure of our presentation were pretty good. We started to speak about
what is a rite of passage and then we explained about our rite of passage
ritual for ritual. Finally we spoke about curiosities.
-
Do
you use discourse makers to make your ideas more clear? I think so. We didn’t
use too much of them, but the appropriate ones.
Content
(40%):
-
Do
you introduce new information to your audience? Although no question had been
asked, I think we introduce new information because while we were doing this
work, we were learning new vocabulary and above all, a new rite of passage.
-
Is
your information detailed, clear and…? Yes, but maybe we could speak about it a
little bit more if you could give our opinion.
-
Do
you give/ show examples? We show a video which shows one of the ritual in order
to exemplify our work.
Language
(20%):
- Is
your grammar correct, complex? Not at all. We commit some mistakes in our
grammar expression.
-
Is
your vocabulary rich, varied? Like we said before, during we were doing the
homework, we had to search new words because we didn’t know what they were, and
also we have tried to use a rich vocabulary. Maybe we could use a little bit
complex words.
-
Do
you use sentence linkers? Not too much.
-
Do
you use fillers? Just in few occasions.
Pronunciation
& Intonation (10%):
-
Do
you know how to pronounce all your words? Did you check the pronunciation? We
tried to pronounce new words correctly but it’s hard to say it well when you
never have used it.
-
Do
you change your tone of voice or use monotone tone all the time? Do you speak
in a fluid continuum or with breaks and interruptions? We thought we changed
the tone of voice more frequently but after heard us in a video, we don’t think
we have do it frequently, just in few occasions. And, like lots of people, we
have said “emmm….” in many cases. So it makes it less fluid.
After this
revision we consider that we have made a good presentation, with a very good
structure and content, but maybe we could speak a little bit more and give more
examples to the audience. Also, we could move more in order to hold the attention
of the public and use more complex grammar words in a correct pronunciation.
Finally we
evaluate ourselves with this marks:
